Hi! I’m Charlie.
Thanks for visiting my website — it’s home to my various projects, songs, videos, upcoming singing workshops, choirs, and gigs.
One of my favourite poets, Walt Whitman, famously said ‘I contain multitudes’. My musical career certainly reflects this sentiment. I have never been able to pin myself down to one discipline - I wear a variety of musical hats! I’m a community musician, therapeutic arts practitioner, instrumentalist, and songwriter, working with people of all ages and backgrounds. The through-line is my love of song-craft: a great song can unite people across differences, generations, and abilities, while still expressing something personal.
Everything I do lives under the Projects dropdown at the top of the page. There, you’ll see details on my therapeutic music workshops (I’m trained by Music4Wellbeing to lead therapeutic singing sessions for people living with additional needs like dementia or Parkinson’s). You can explore my large-scale inter-generational project Sing from the Heart, where I collaborate with folks of all ages and abilities to write, record, and perform a brand-new original track — showing how a great song can bring everyone together. You can also find my music for children project: Charlie’s Tunes, where I run a YouTube channel and have produced an album of original pop songs for kids.
My longest-running musical project is Itchy Teeth, the band I co-founded with my friend Xav Clarke in 2007. We’ve toured Europe, earned support and radio play from BBC Radio 6 and Radio X, and we released our latest album We’re Friends Again earlier in the year. And then there’s my solo work, where I’ve been self producing albums for a decade, and where I get to indulge those navel gazing/tortured artist fantasies.
It’s all here on this website, so have a good browse! If you have any questions, please get in touch — I’d love to hear from you.
